Ministry Update from the REC State Board Spiritual Advisor

Dear Community,

We are so excited that doors have opened and more are opening back up to allow REC to resume ministry within Florida jails.  I was privileged to have served on the 1st Citrus County REC weekend in December, and what a privilege it was!  We saw such a synergy between the officers, residents, our team, and the brand new Chaplain who came in to observe one day.  He was thrilled with the work we were doing, and wanted to get to know the team.  Not a single resident dropped out during the entire three day experience, which is beautiful and rare!  Many of the men testified of recommitting their lives to our Savior Jesus,  declaring "You're never too old or too far gone to come back!"  We all got the feeling that this was just the first of many weekends that we will be able to host at the Citrus County facility.

We on the State Board thank you for your prayers and commitment to being a part of Jesus changing the hearts, minds, and lives of our sisters and brothers who find themselves entangled in the justice system.  There is no safer place to be than smack dab in the middle of God's will for His children.  There is no greater joy and no higher purpose than to preach the Good News, set the captives free, open the blind eyes, bind up the broken-hearted, and watch Jesus turn ashes into beauty!

Blessings in the Name of our mighty and gracious Abba,

Pastor Kris Schonewolf
REC State Board Spiritual Director
